Spotting a problem early and answering it

Most players who run into difficulty notice a sign first and act later. We set the signs beside the response that fits each of them, so that the response is known before it is needed.

Sign and response, in pairs

Warning signResponse we advise
Deposits above the planned amountLower the deposit limit in the account and stop for the day
Playing to win back a lossStop the session; never raise the stake to recover money
Hiding time or money spentTell someone you trust and review the cashier history
Irritability when not playingTake a break of a week or longer
Borrowing to gambleStop playing and seek debt advice at once
Play at the expense of sleep or workSet a time limit and leave when it ends
Feeling unable to keep a limitRequest self-exclusion through our support team

One sign does not prove a problem. Several together call for a pause and a conversation. A useful test is whether you could stop for a month without discomfort. If the honest answer is no, act now.

Deposits above the plan

Set a budget before the first deposit: a sum in pounds that you can lose without any effect on rent, bills, food or savings. Deposit it in portions and do not top it up when it is spent. The deposit limit in your account holds you to the rule when willpower does not, and our support team can explain where it is set.

Chasing losses

A loss does not create a debt that play can repay. Close the lobby, leave the account for the day and return only with the next period’s budget. A bonus does not change this. The crypto welcome offer carries a play-through of 45 times the deposit and the bonus together, and a player who feels pressure to finish it should stop.

Which tools answer which sign

  1. Deposit limit: for deposits above the plan.
  2. Time limit: for long sessions and lost sleep.
  3. Loss limit: for chasing losses within a period.
  4. Break: for irritability and for a first loss of control.
  5. Self-exclusion: for the sign that a limit no longer holds.

The tools are in the responsible play area of the account. A limit is a rule you make while calm for a moment when you are not, and our support team can explain how each one is applied.

Secrecy and borrowing

When play must be hidden, it has already moved beyond entertainment. Review the cashier history once a month, add up the deposits and compare the sum with the budget. Do not borrow to gamble and do not lend money to someone else’s gambling. Free, confidential debt advice is available from independent services.

A short plan for the next session

Write down the budget in pounds and the time you will stop. Decide in advance what you will do when the time ends: close the site and log out of the account. Check the cashier history afterwards and note how the session compared with the plan. A session that went beyond the plan is a sign, and the table above shows the response.

Irritability and lost sleep

These signs belong to the body as much as to the account. A break costs nothing and often shows whether play was a choice or a habit. If you cannot take the break, that is itself the answer.

When a limit no longer holds

Self-exclusion is a decision to stop for a fixed period. During it the account is closed to play, and marketing messages stop. The request is made through our support team and is better made at once than postponed. A player who asks for exclusion or a break is not penalised.

Reading the offer terms with care

A bonus makes a session longer because of its turnover. Before accepting one, read the maximum stake and the play-through, and decide whether the time and the money it demands fit the plan. If they do not, decline it. Playing with ordinary funds carries no turnover and no maximum stake of this kind.

Keeping the record

Write the date, the amount deposited and the time played after each session. A record of a few weeks shows a pattern that memory hides.

Barriers outside the account

  • Ask your bank whether it can block gambling transactions on your cards.
  • Install software that restricts gambling sites on the devices you use.
  • Remove saved card details and passwords from the browser.
  • Ask a trusted person to hold you to the budget.

Independent help in the United Kingdom

GamCare runs the National Gambling Helpline on 0808 8020 133, a free and confidential service. BeGambleAware provides information and signposting. Both are independent of any casino. If you are in distress or fear for your safety, contact emergency services or a doctor without delay.

When a person close to you gambles

Speak calmly and in private, describe what you have observed and avoid blame. Do not lend money to cover gambling debts. GamCare also advises people affected by someone else’s gambling.

Players under 18

Anyone under 18 must not register or play. A parent can use device-level controls and filtering software, and should keep payment cards out of reach.

Our own part

We do not present gambling as income, and we do not encourage play to recover losses. If an account shows signs of harm, we may contact the player, restrict the account or ask for a pause. To reach us, write to [email protected] or use live chat.
